How informative guide texts can lead to more visibility and organic traffic.

The expansion of renewable energies is a central topic of energy transition. Alongside wind, water and biomass, solar energy is one of the most important sources of green energy, and not only in Germany.

Since 1993, the Dresden-based company SOLARWATT has been developing devices that make electricity, heat, and mobility from solar energy usable for citizens.

For this to succeed, a comprehensive, informative online presence is also important. This includes optimizing the solarwatt.de website for all relevant keywords that present the products and services offered by SOLARWATT. Furthermore, with the advice portal solarenergie.de, an information website was created that addresses the B2C target group in particular and uses low-threshold advice texts to explain the products, advantages, and possibilities of solar energy.

The challenge

Solar energy and how it can be used with photovoltaic systems are complex topics that are not always straightforward to people outside the field. Therefore, the biggest challenge in this project was and still is to present complicated topics in comprehensible texts so that B2C clients also understand how photovoltaics works. Moreover, to convince them why a PV system is not only a sensible investment but also a good solution for generating electricity in one’s own home or in a rented apartment.

The goals of the copywriting were to increase traffic to the website, generate leads for SOLARWATT and gain more visibility for the topics related to solar energy and photovoltaics. And of course: to convince more people of the many advantages of having their own PV system with electricity storage and a wallbox thereby contributing to the expansion of renewable energies.

The implementation 

No sooner said than done. The idea was implemented on two different websites: solarwatt.de and solarenergie.de. For the company website solarwatt.de, we created search engine optimized, user-friendly texts for relevant keywords that are close to SOLARWATT GmbH’s products and services, offering advice on and purchase of photovoltaic systems and complete packages. General advisors around topics such as “electricity costs lower” or “Smart Home” make the 360-degree offer complete.

In addition, the solarenergie.de advice portal was launched, providing broader coverage of topics. With the creation of new advice and information texts and the linking of both domains to each other, the solarwatt.de and solarenergie.de websites have thus become a comprehensive guide and service provider: informative, interesting, and solution oriented.

The results 

Through extensive content creation for both websites, we achieved higher visibility for topics related to solar energy.

  • Meanwhile, the domain solarenergie.de is even more visible in Google search results than solarwatt.de

  • The solarenergie.de advice portal has had more than 2.7 million visitors in the last two years (as of April 2023). 

  • In the last two years, the traffic value that would otherwise be purchased through Google Ads has increased to over 2 million euros. 

  • Between 2021 and 2023, the rankings for solarenergie.de improved steadily due to regular uploads of informative advice texts.
